A little bird stopped by the other day
For one so small, he had lots to say
He told of a man who was meek and mild
Teaching us all as if we were just a child
To all those around who could hear
He gave them hope eased their fear
Told stories of how we should live
Of God's eternal love which he will give
His stories brought tears to my small eyes
I tried to understand, when I couldn't, I cried
He spoke with ease, words of such tender care
He spoke of a world of love, wish I could go there
The next day I stopped and saw this same man
Carrying a heavy cross as best as he can
Yet there was such joy in his face
He was without fear, without disgrace
These same people lead him to the top of a hill
Two other crosses there made me cry so shrill
They nailed him to this cross and I wondered why?
What could he ever have done to make him die?
As I looked at his face a calm appeared over me
And I knew that he had to die to set all men free
No greater love than this have I ever seen
I wish I was not a bird and that this was but a dream.
